NEW DATE: Springing Into a Speechtacular Event (HALF DAY)

Writing Meaningful and Compliant IEPs for the SLP
The IEP is a cornerstone of educational access to grade-level instruction for every child with a disability. Beyond surface-level compliance in completing components of an IEP, this workshop focuses on IEP content specific to the Speech-Language Pathologist when case managing SLI students. Furthermore, recent case law has attempted to redefine “educational benefit” which creates a need to gain a better understanding of how an IEP is tied to educational access for each student with a disability. This workshop will allow the SLP to ask questions related to the SLI student population, including: private school students, consultation services, behaviors impeding learning, goals aligned with CCSS, present levels of performance, testing accommodations, and writing services.

Learner Outcomes

  1. Gain a deeper understanding of FAPE
  2. Consider IEP Content and its relationship to FAPE and educational benefit
  3. Review/Practice educational benefit analysis.
