Financial incentives for carpool/bike commuters
09/30/2014 - SCOE is now part of the Bay Area Commuter Benefits Program, an initiative designed to reward employees who help reduce air pollution and traffic congestion by decreasing single-occupant commute trips. Effective today, all employees are eligible for new financial rewards for carpooling or bicycling to work.
You can earn $3 per day each time you rideshare and $20 each month that you commute by bicycle 10 or more times. An online tool has been set up so that you can record your trips and find potential commuting partners here at SCOE or at neighboring worksites.
Details about the SCOE Commuter Benefits program are available at scoe.org/commute. Here is some key information about the program:
- To participate, you must register and create a profile on SCOE’s Commuter Benefits website, which is part of the 511 system.
- To receive the financial incentive, you’ll need to record your trips in your online “Trip Diary.” You must complete your diary no later than the last working day of the month as payments are calculated monthly.
- Payment for your participation will be provided as a supplemental paycheck. This may take up to 60 days.
- Once you have registered on SCOE’s Commuter Benefits website, you can search for ridesharing matches or bicycling buddies based on your home and work locations.
