Sonoma County Office of Education

Message for Special Ed instructional staff

12/10/2014 - Assistant Superintendent John Laughlin issued the following guidelines for SCOE special education classes in the event that there are school closures due to the approaching storm.

  • All regions and classes are connected in a phone tree system. Staff should contact their office coordinator for help with this if needed.
  • For classrooms on district campuses, staff are directed to follow the schedule of the host school/district. If a school closes for the day, the SCOE class will also be closed.
  • Please advise students and families to check the SCOE website or listen to local radio stations for school closures. Closures are often listed by district, so make sure families know which district the school is located in.
  • Students may begin their bus rides before a closure is announced. Please prepare for this possibility.
  • All staff are asked to report to work if conditions allow. If your class is closed, you may be asked to fill in for a colleague.
