  • Support districts during the teacher shortage through the “Be a Teacher” Intern Program
  • Roll-out of a new webpage and resources www.ncsoe.org
  • Accreditation of intern programs in the preliminary credential areas of special education and general education
  • Newly designed Individual Learning Plans (ILP) for Year 1 Teachers
  • New mentor trainings
  • Focus teachers on improved teaching and learning through a growth mindset inquiry model

North Coast Teacher Induction Program

NCTIPThe North Coast Teacher Induction Program (NCTIP) is a two-year program accredited by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) that allows preliminary teachers with general education, special education, and designated subjects (Career Technical Education or Adult Education) to clear their teaching credential. This year, approximately 2,000 new and experienced teachers are expected to participate in professional development, online or hybrid courses, and specialized trainings that are aligned to newly approved induction standards. As a state-approved regional consortium teacher induction program, NCTIP has a significant impact in classrooms throughout the counties it serves—Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Nevada, Sonoma, Vallejo, Alameda, Napa, Hayward, and Monterey-Santa Clara corridor.

Administrative Induction Program

The Administrative Induction Program is a two-year program accredited by the CTC that allows preliminary administrators (PA) to clear their administrative credential. Administrators are paired with a trained and experienced coach who supports the PA's efforts in demonstrating and applying the California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (CPSELs). Currently the program serves over 100 candidates.

 “Be a Teacher” Intern Program

beateacherThe “Be a Teacher” intern program is a preliminary program that allows interns an alternative pathway to acquiring a preliminary teaching credential. It prepares teachers for elementary, middle, high school, and special education. Teachers begin their classroom career with an intern credential. At the same time, they are employed and paid by a school district; are the “Teacher of Record” for their classrooms; work closely with a practicum supervisor; and attend evening or weekend classes in a cohort model twice a week. Currently the program has 27 candidates in special education enrolled. Coursework began in September.
