Response to Intervention

Researcher Mike Vanderwood, PhD, from the University of California-Riverside, has been involved in a pilot project to implement Response to Intervention (RTI) concepts in 12 Sonoma County schools. The pilot, a collaborative initiative supported by the Sonoma County SELPA and SCOE, was initiated in 2008-09 with a goal of improving student achievement in literacy.

This series of videos presents a March 2009 interview with Dr. Vanderwood conducted by John Namkung, who was the director of the Sonoma County SELPA until his retirement in June 2009. They begin their discussion by reviewing the basic premise of RTI, then delve deeper into frequently asked questions regarding this school reform initiative.
