Superintendent comments on shooting tragedy
10/24/2013 - Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools Steve Herrington issued the following statement today about the shooting tragedy in Santa Rosa that resulted in the death of Andy Lopez, a 13-year-old student who attended Cook Middle School.
“Across Sonoma County, we are all mourning the loss of this young life. Our local educators are especially aware of the impact tragedies like this have on other students. As we grieve, it is imperative that we come together as a community, recognize the value of each individual’s life, and work together to make our county a safe place for all students.
“I also want to express my deepest sympathy to Andy Lopez’s family and friends, the Southwest Santa Rosa community, and the teachers and students at Cook Middle School.”
