National Merit Scholar semifinalists recognized

11/08/2013 - At its November 7 meeting, the Sonoma County Board of Education recognized the 14 Sonoma County high school seniors who were named National Merit Scholar semifinalists. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships based on results from Preliminary SATs taken last spring. Of the 1.5 million entrants screened this year, these semifinalists were among the highest scoring contenders in the state.

To become finalists, students must submit a letter of recommendation from their principal, maintain strong academics, and meet the qualifying score on the SATs. Finalists are announced in February.
