Science Olympiad
The Science Olympiad is a fun and spirited team event that challenges Sonoma County fourth, fifth, and sixth graders to demonstrate their scientific knowledge, understanding, and skill. As students prepare for participation in the competition, they work in the disciplines of life, earth, and physical science. They learn science facts, concepts, processes, and skills, then apply this learning in Science Olympiad events.
The Science Olympiad is devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science, and providing recognition for outstanding achievement.
The event, now in its 24th year, consists of a series of individual and team challenges that are balanced among the various disciplines of life, earth, and physical science. The day ends with the exciting Naked Egg Drop event and the awards ceremony, which families and friends are invited to attend.
Note that, for schools with less than 70 students in grades 4-6, teams may include third-graders.
