Standing Committees

The Sonoma County Board of Education has four standing committees.

Administrative and Business Services
The Administrative and Business Services standing committee reviews Sonoma County Office of Education budgets as described under Board Policy 3100(a), the annual audit, and contracts related to activities or programs under the jurisdiction of the County Board of Education. This committee also serves as the audit committee.

Instructional Services
The Instructional Services standing committee is concerned with:

  • The operation, review, and evaluation of juvenile court schools, community schools, and the Regional Occupational Program (ROP).
  • Adoption of learning resource materials and use of technology to support instructional programs on a regional basis.
  • Review of service agreements in the areas of curriculum development, library/media services, supervision of instruction, pupil personnel services, and health services.
  • Review of program budgets as assigned pursuant to Board Policy 3100(a).

Personnel Services
The Personnel Services standing committee:

  • Annually reviews and sets the County Superintendent’s salary.
  • Together with the County Superintendent, establishes the process for selection and sets the annual salary of any attorney employed to serve as legal counsel.
  • Issues temporary certificates under Board Policy 4100(a).
  • Reviews program budgets as are assigned under Board Policy 3100(a).
  • Recommends the nomination of individuals to serve on the Sonoma County Office of Education Personnel Commission.

Policies and Procedures
The Policies and Procedures committee develops and recommends policies and procedures with respect to the Board’s own governance and the administration of the Office of the Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools.
