Fostering student success through service to students, schools and the community
SCOE helps schools and districts operate effectively and efficiently so that Sonoma County’s 70,637 public school students receive the best education possible.
Current Focus Areas
Common Core Standards are challenging educators to refocus English language arts and math instruction and to incorporate literacy learning across the curriculum.
Schools are moving to a new statewide assessment system and SCOE is offering support and assistance to help local educators prepare for the change.
SCOE is providing training and support to help districts prepare their Local Control & Accountability Plans (LCAPs), describing how they will meet state/local priorities.
21st century teaching and learning opens the door to new ideas about how instruction is delivered, how disciplines interact, and what students need to learn.
