First Day Energy: Sonoma County schools welcome back 64,000 students

The first days of school are always filled with excitement, laughs, and lots of energy! More than 64,000 students across Sonoma County’s 39 school districts have returned to the classroom, some schools starting as early as August 12. For Santa Rosa City Schools, the county’s largest school district, the first day of school was Monday, Aug. 17.

“Seeing our students walk through the doors with enthusiasm and excitement is a reward for all the work it takes to prepare our campuses,” said Dr. Amie Carter, Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools. “Across all 39 districts, our teachers, administrators, and support staff are eager to support learners of all ages.”

“The energy at the start to a new school year is contagious,” Carter said. “From the warm welcomes and assemblies to the prepared classrooms, the dedication of our educators and staff shines through, I look forward to an amazing school year.”
