SCOE to Host Free Summer AI Workshops for Incoming 5th-8th Graders

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the landscape of education and technology, the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) is offering a unique opportunity to build essential digital literacy skills to students. This July, SCOE will offer a series of free, single-day AI workshops designed for incoming 5th through 8th grade students.

These workshops will aim to demystify AI, equipping students with tools to navigate modern technology safely and responsibly. Students will also learn about the risks of using AI, and how to deploy tools responsibly and ethically.

Students will explore the AI fundamentals, examine the ethics, and wrap up the day with a fun, beginner-friendly coding project to gain true practical experience.

To accommodate busy summer schedules, SCOE is offering five identical sessions. Families may select the single date that works best for them.

Dates: July 27, 28, 29, 30, or 31 (Choose any 1 day)
Time: 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Location: Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), 5340 Skylane Blvd., Santa Rosa, CA 95403
