Sonoma County Office of Education

Science of Reading Series 3rd Cohort

Every child has the right to read. How can we leverage years of scientific research to ensure that our instructional practices best meet the needs of the students in our classrooms? Together, we will explore the foundations of early literacy, deconstruct and discuss the different strands of Scarborough's Rope (word recognition and language comprehension), and examine how we can leverage classroom, school, and district resources to ensure that every child has the opportunity to become a reader.

This series will meet on February 9th and March 9th, with an optional session on March 16th to allow for deeper exploration and application. Because the series is focused on the foundations of literacy, it's recommended for educators who work with students in grades TK-3, or for educators who work with older students in an intervention or special education setting.
