Advanced Multi-Disciplinary Threat Assessment Team Training at SCOE- April 2

SCOE’s School Culture and Partnerships Department is sponsoring an Advanced Student Threat Assessment Training (STAT) for local Multidisciplinary School Teams on Wednesday, April 2nd.

Mason Hendricks, the head safety coordinator for San Mateo’s County Office of Education, and Greg Concepcion, Special Agent for the FBI, will be presenting at this training. This class is designed to enhance school STAT teams proficiency in assessing potential threats through the review of complex case studies. Together we aim to make schools safer and to support student well-being through the threat assessment and intervention process.

The threat assessment protocol aims to reduce and prevent violence by:

  • Identifying students who may be planning to commit an act of violence
  • Determining the seriousness of the threat of violence
  • Intervening to prevent the act from occurring
  • Addressing the underlying problem or conflict
  • Identifying next steps to ensure campus safety

If your district or site team is interested in participating in this training, please see the attached flyer or register below. Participants are encouraged to bring a site team, which ideally, consists of: school administrator, school counselor, school psychologist, school social worker, school nurse, school resource officer, IEP program manager, and community agency STAT representatives. Please feel free to forward this email to your STAT team members or others in your department that would benefit from participating in this workshop.

There will be two sessions on April 2nd: AM Session: 9am - Noon   PM Session: 1pm - 4pm

We look forward to advancing your work to improve school safety, student wellbeing, and student achievement.
