School Violence Preparedness and Response

Mom and child hug before she gets on the bus Is your school or district prepared to respond to a violent situation on campus?

The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office and the Sonoma County Office of Education, in partnership with local fire and other law enforcement agencies, are offering this important training in school violence preparedness and response.

All school staff, from teachers to administrators to maintenance and operations staff, are encouraged to attend. Board members, partnering nonprofits, and on-site daycare providers are also invited.

Attendees will learn:

  • Steps to take now to prepare staff and secure facilities
  • How to plan a response to an active shooter or other violent situation
  • How to work with law enforcement and rescuers in the event of a crisis
  • How to save lives and minimize injuries during a crisis. This includes a presentation by St. Joseph Memorial Hospital on Stop the Bleed, which provides bystanders with knowledge and skills to provide critical initial response to stop life-threatening bleeding in emergency situations.

Light snacks will be provided.
