( CANCELED) Make Math: Incorporating Making in TK-8 Math Class
Building cars, floating pennies, making playdough—activate your students’ learning of mathematics by building their identities as makers and their belief in themselves as doers of mathematics! We’ll learn about implementing maker challenges in math class, and using them to learn important grade-level math. Every grade, TK-8, has several challenges and lessons already designed for you to customize and bring to your students. All of them are designed to be done in a regular classroom; no specialized maker space is required.
In three summer days, we will experience learning math through maker challenges and followup lessons, choose a challenge to implement in the fall, and plan for successful implementation. In the fall, we will make final preparations in October and review how it went in November.
