Bringing Lessons to Life: Exploring Science and Social Studies through Movement

This workshop was developed in association with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and is partially underwritten by the Department of Education and the National Committee for the Performing Arts.

Through use of social studies and science examples, participants will learn strategies for planning, facilitating, assessing, and implementing arts integrated instruction in secondary classrooms. Participants will use collaborative movement and theatrical exploration to unpack poetry and the anatomy/physiology of the human brain through two sample lesson plans that give students choice and voice, get them up and moving, and merge academic content and arts learning. Continuing Education Units available.
