Nature in Crisis: How Did We Get Here?

Region One History/Social Science Community of Practice Presents:

Join us as we explore the interdependency and complexity of people and natural systems, with an emphasis on local wildfire.

The session will begin with a conversation between U.S. Congressman Jared Huffman and National Book Award Winner & New York Times Op-Ed Writer Timothy Egan as they discuss the past, present and future of the relationship between humans and nature

This will be followed by planning and networking opportunities for History-Social Science teachers in Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties,with a focus on environmental literacy and the History-Social Science Framework.

The first fifty people to register and attend will receive a free copy of Timothy Egan’s book, The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire That Saved America.
