(Added Clarification) IMPORTANT: Earthquake "Drill" Today 10:20am
Date: 10/20/2016

Clarification: This will NOT be an evacuation/assembly drill - staff are simply asked to take a moment on their own to review this info.
Today SCOE will be participating in this year's Great California ShakeOut Earthquake drill at 10:20am. Our participation will be an informal, individual review of what to do in the case of an earthquake. Please review the below actions to take in case of an earthquake, and if you are in a workshop or training this morning, we ask that the presenter discuss this information during the workshop.
When an earthquake occurs, remember the following:
- Drop, Cover, and Hold On, wherever you are - this includes taking cover beneath a sturdy table or desk, or dropping to the floor near an interior wall while covering your head with your hands and arms.
- After shaking is over stand up, survey your area - safety MUST be the first priority, so carefully assess the environment inside and outside the facility before deciding whether to evacuate or stay put. There may be safety hazards outside caused by the shaking.
Please also take some time this morning to inspect your work space for any potential hazards, and to consider what space you might use to drop, cover, and hold on. Look around at what would be falling on or around you in a real earthquake - secure or move items to prevent injury and damage PRIOR to an earthquake.
Below are some additional documents for your review - please take note of the SCOE evacuation procedures, and review the emergency maps.
Thank you for your participation!
