Name:
Susie Truelove

Years at SCOE:

Job Title:
HR Analyst

How do you describe your job to people outside SCOE?
Basically, I’m in charge of certificated recruitments. That includes teacher, administrator, and superintendent searches. I do everything from posting the position to new hire orientation to paperwork. I also do a lot of the state and federal reporting about employees.

Where did you grow up?
San Francisco. I moved to Santa Rosa 15 years ago after living in Oregon.

Who was your favorite childhood teacher and why?
Ms. Murphy, a history teacher at Convent of the Sacred Heart. She was a great teacher because she associated history with real life examples. She always had a story to go along with what we were studying that made the materials easier to remember.

What is your favorite thing about working for SCOE?
The camaraderie of everyone I work with. It doesn’t matter if it’s HR or another department—everyone has a focus that what we do is to support students, directly or indirectly.

What is one of your most memorable moments as a SCOE employee?
Winning the Classified Golden Bell Award.

Outside of work, what is your favorite hobby or way to unwind?
I like food. Cooking has always been a passion for me. I used to be a professional chef. I met my husband when I was cooking at Sam’s Anchor Cafe in Tiburon. He was a chef too. I also like taking pictures.

What is your favorite place in Sonoma County?
I live near Highway 12 east of Santa Rosa, so looking at the vineyards in the fall is really beautiful.

What is one thing that might surprise people to learn about you?
I was student body president of the school when I was in the 6th grade. I played 10 years of indoor soccer.
