All Students at Harmony Elementary, Salmon Creek School Safe After Lockdown
03/10/2025 -
All students at Harmony Elementary School and Salmon Creek School are safe and reunited with their families after the schools went into lockdown Monday because of a threat made on social media.
The schools, which share a campus in Occidental, were placed into lockdown about 9:30 a.m. in partnership with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office after the Sheriff’s Office determined that the threat made by the father of a student was credible. About 220 students attend the schools.
School administration then coordinated with staff from the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) and Sonoma County’s Department of Emergency Management, as well as the Sheriff’s Office, on a plan to safely reunify students with their families. All students had returned to their families by 1 p.m., and the schools plan to hold classes on Tuesday.
SCOE staff are working with school administration to support families and the return of students to campus.
Because the threat is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation, additional information will be released in coordination with the Sheriff’s Office.
