Sonoma County Board of Education to appoint new member
12/01/2015 -
The five-member Sonoma County Board of Education, which provides community stewardship of county-wide education initiatives, has received three applications for its Area 3 seat vacated in November by Khaalid Muttaqi.
“We are pleased to receive so many well-qualified applicants for this important position,” said Steven D. Herrington, County Superintendent of Schools.
The applicants are:
- Andrew Leonard, Education Program Officer for United Way of The Wine Country
- Karyn Pulley, a private educational consultant and former trustee for the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School Board
- David Rosas, contract worker for Keysight and former Roseland School Board trustee
The county board of education will interview each candidate at its Dec. 10 board meeting, which begins at 3:30 p.m. They will vote to select the next board member, who will be sworn in that day and fill the seat through a provisional appointment until the end of 2016. The new board member will have the option of running for re-election in 2016.
Board meetings take place at the Sonoma County Office of Education, 5340 Skylane Boulevard, Santa Rosa. Learn more about the County Board at http://www.scoe.org/pub/htdocs/countyboard.html.
