Spelling Bees
The Sonoma County Office of Education coordinates the regional and county elementary Spelling Bees for grade 4-6 students and the county junior high competition for students in grades 7-9. Sonoma County Spelling Bees give students the opportunity to demonstrate their spelling ability, think on their feet, and speak before an audience.
Elementary Spelling Bees, Grades 4-6
Grade 4-6 students participate in school competitions, then advance to the regional spelling bees. Two students from every school are eligible to compete in the regionals. The top five spellers from each regional bee advance to the county spelling competition. The top two spellers in the county event advance to the state championship.
