Meet the members of our certificated team.
Chloe Brewer, Project Coordinator - Math - Elementary, brings a deep passion for collaborative coaching, equity-centered instruction, and innovative math teaching practices. Chloe has over 15 years of experience in TK–4th grade classrooms, has served as a SCOE Math Fellow, Lesson Study Facilitator, and teacher leader providing professional development to her districts—supporting educators in implementing new curricula, helping educators analyze student data to inform teaching strategies, and fostering student engagement and discourse.
Her work is grounded in the principles of the California Mathematics Framework and driven by a commitment to making math meaningful and accessible for all learners. Chloe values strong relationships, inclusive leadership, and the power of professional learning communities to elevate teaching and learning across the county.
Outside of work, Chloe enjoys exploring nature with her family and embracing her role as a sports mom. She also loves supporting her children in hands-on projects that combine engineering, carpentry, and art to spark creativity and curiosity.

Josh Deis, Program Coordinator - Mathematics Professional Learning Partnership (MPLP) Grant, is dedicated to ensuring that every child has a rich and powerful mathematical experience. His work is firmly rooted in the belief that "it isn’t that more kids need STEM, it’s that STEM needs more kids and a diversity of voices."
This marks Josh’s second tenure at SCOE; he previously served as a Math Coordinator for 14 years before transitioning to Petaluma City Schools. There, he served as the District Math Coordinator and as an Assistant Principal at Mary Collins at Cherry Valley. In his current role as Program Coordinator, Josh supports the Mathematics Professional Learning and Partnership Grant (MPLP)—a statewide effort to bring the vision of the 2023 California Mathematics Framework to life. Working with educators throughout Region 1, he is driven by the opportunity to transform mathematical outcomes for students across California.
In his spare time, Josh enjoys being with his family and exploring the outdoors, especially through hiking and biking.

Kirsten Carpenter, Project Coordinator - Language & Literacy, is an education leader rooted in her belief that every student has innate potential. She is committed to equitable literacy, research-aligned ELA/ELD instructional coaching and a people-first practice. Her early teaching experiences included preschool, TK, Kindergarten and 5th grade. Before joining the Language and Literacy team, she was a site based ELD teacher leader in the Wright Elementary School District. In this role, she worked to foster thriving, high-quality learning environments as an educator and a coach. She holds a B.A. in International Studies, Multiple Subject Credential, Administrative Services Credential, and an M.A. in Education Leadership. Kirsten is passionate about supporting educators as they endeavor to promote excellence for the rich and diverse group of learners we have in Sonoma County.
Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys finding new places to explore in our beautiful county. She also loves gardening, yoga and being with her family.

Dani Eaton (she/her), Project Coordinator - Early Learning, was born and raised in Sonoma County and received her teaching credential through the North Coast School of Education. She has worked for the Sonoma County Office of Education for the last seven years working as an Education Specialist teaching in elementary school classrooms that support students with emotional and behavioral difficulties. She joined the Behavioral Health and Well-being department as a teaching coach to help support districts and teachers across Sonoma County incorporate trauma-responsive approaches into their classrooms. Dani enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Gina Godfrey, Project Coordinator - Math - Elementary, believes that an assets-based mindset is the way to address every child's diverse needs for learning and growing. Gina's twenty three years of classroom teaching experience has been with large populations of English Language Learners. She has a passion for supporting language development in tandem with mathematical content. Gina is driven to bring joy and fun into math classrooms.
Gina enjoys working collaboratively with peers to share ideas and teaching practices. She is dedicated to working with teachers to build understanding around math instruction and student engagement. Gina wants to help foster agency and identity in mathematics for educators and students alike! She holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Sacramento State University and her teaching credential from Sonoma State University.
In her spare time Gina can be found driving her teenage boys around to all of their sporting events and social engagements. She enjoys reading and movie nights at home with her husband and kids.

Jenn Guerrero, Specialist - Multilingual Learner, firmly believes in the limitless potential of every child. In her role as the Multilingual Learner (ML) Specialist at the Sonoma County Office of Education and the Title III EL Specialist for Region 1 with the California Department of Education, she partners with TK–12 educators and administrators to strengthen systems and instruction for multilingual learners. Jenn’s commitment to supporting MLs and their families began in the classroom, where she started her career as a teacher in the Oakland Unified School District. She later taught in the Roseland School District and served as a principal for Sonoma County Migrant Education summer programs. She holds a M.Ed. with a concentration in Social Justice and Educating Multilingual Learners, which is rooted in her dedication to advancing access, equity, and excellence for linguistically and culturally diverse learners.
In her free time, Jenn enjoys going on outdoor adventures with her husband and two children.

Rhiannon King, Project Coordinator - Language & Literacy, is deeply committed to improving student outcomes for all through high quality evidence-based instruction, equitable practices, and educational excellence. For thirteen years, Rhiannon taught fifth and third grades at Sequoia Elementary School in Santa Rosa. In 2020, she stepped out of the classroom and into the role of Student Support Coordinator at Sequoia. In collaboration with classroom teachers and support staff, Rhiannon developed targeted, supplemental support for students in the areas of reading and language development. She is passionate about empowering teachers with knowledge and best practices in literacy and language development so that all students have access to rich learning experiences that improve their opportunities beyond the classroom. Rhiannon is honored and excited to join SCOE and to have the opportunity to serve the educators and students of Sonoma County.
In her spare time, Rhiannon enjoys traveling, reading, day trips to the coast, hiking, and spending time with her family and friends.

Leah Kenzy, Project Coordinator - Math - Secondary, is passionate about making mathematics accessible and joyful for all learners. Raised in Sonoma County in a family of educators, Leah is committed to transforming students' math esteem, believing that every learner has their own unique "smartness" in math.
Teaching for social justice is central to Leah's work. With extensive experience across diverse settings including continuation schools, college access programs, multilingual and co-taught classrooms. Leah received training through the SF Urban Teacher Residency, which equipped her with the diverse skills essential for teaching in San Francisco's public schools, and earned her Master’s in Teaching from the University of San Francisco. She has taught math in both urban and suburban environments within San Francisco and San Rafael high schools. As a model teacher for Complex Instruction pedagogy (CI), which aims to disrupt status and create equitable math classrooms, and as a pioneer of a co-teaching initiative, Leah also played a key role as a common core curriculum writer for Geometry in SFUSD. Now, she brings her experience and enthusiasm to Sonoma County schools, with a particular passion for fostering student participation and encouraging mathematical discourse, while continually striving to create equitable, warm and joyful environments for all students.
In her free time, Leah enjoys listening to live music, practicing pilates, hiking, and spending time with her husband and two young kids, Weston and Sierra.

Ryan Kurada, Program Coordinator - Early Learning, is dedicated to transforming educational environments where learning is relevant, meaningful, and joyful for all children. Before joining SCOE, he taught TK, kindergarten, and first grade at University Elementary School in Rohnert Park, where he developed their school-wide project-based learning program. Ryan is also a lecturer at Sonoma State University in the Early Childhood Studies Department and a National Faculty member for PBLWorks, training educators in project-based learning nationwide. His passion for early childhood education led him to visit Reggio Emilia, Italy, where he studied the world-renowned Reggio Emilia Approach to early education. He has also collaborated with the San Francisco Exploratorium Tinkering Studio in facilitating statewide early childhood STEAM professional development opportunities. Ryan holds an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education, an Administrative Services Credential, and a B.F.A. in Art Education.
Away from work, Ryan enjoys traveling, exploring the great outdoors, spending time with family, and rooting for his favorite English Premier League soccer team, Arsenal Football Club.

Kristin Lecel, Project Coordinator - Math - Secondary, believes every student can be successful in mathematics when learning is engaging, relevant, and rooted in meaningful relationships. She is dedicated to partnering with educators to create learning experiences that build curiosity, confidence, and a lasting appreciation for mathematics. Kristin is committed to helping students discover that mathematics is all around them and that they are capable mathematical thinkers.
Kristin brings more than 22 years of experience in education, all within the Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District. She taught middle school mathematics for 14 years and high school mathematics for five years before serving as a District Administrator, where she led curriculum implementation, instructional coaching, professional learning, and districtwide initiatives supporting teaching and learning across multiple content areas. She has also served as a facilitator for the North Coast School of Education's Induction Program, a mentor for new teachers, and a Practicum Supervisor, supporting both new and aspiring educators. Kristin values collaboration and enjoys working alongside teachers to strengthen instructional practices, foster rich mathematical discourse, and create classrooms where every learner feels empowered to take risks and grow.
Kristin holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Sonoma State University and an M.A. in Teaching and Learning from Brandman University.
Outside of work, Kristin enjoys spending time with her young daughter and family. Together they love taking road trips to the Oregon Coast, exploring new places, and making lasting memories.

Kelly Mackura, Project Coordinator - Science, is committed to co-creating learning opportunities where community, collaboration, creativity, inquiry, joy, and the lived experiences and brilliance of students and families are centered and honored. She believes education should always be a space of possibility, opportunity, transformation, reimagining and hands-on play and exploration. Before joining the SCOE team, Kelly taught middle school and high school science for over 23 years at Cesar Chavez Language Academy and Elsie Allen High School in Santa Rosa. She has served as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for Santa Rosa City Schools where she facilitated NGSS implementation, course writing and curriculum adoptions. Kelly holds a B.A. in Biological Sciences from U.C. Davis and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Curriculum, Teaching and Learning from Sonoma State University. Kelly is also the co-author ofPlanning Science Instruction for Emergent Bilinguals: Weaving in Rich and Relevant Language Support.

Rocio Miscio, Project Coordinator - Language & Literacy, brings a deeply personal perspective to her role at the Sonoma County Office of Education. By drawing from her lived experience and scholarly expertise, she works to create educational environments where all students can thrive. Raised biculturally and bilingually, she experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating the public school system as a multilingual student. These formative experiences inspired her to dedicate her career to transforming instructional practices for multilingual learners. Through her research and professional work, Rocio’s work is centered on multilingual learners' inherent strengths. Rocio's extensive background in literacy instruction, honed over years of teaching reading, is a cornerstone of her expertise. She is certified as a Dyslexia Specialist by Orton-Gillingham International and as a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist from The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI).
She holds a B.A. in Journalism, an elementary teaching credential with an Early Childhood Development emphasis, and an M.Ed in Educational Administration. A twice National Board certified educator in middle childhood, she has over twenty years of experience with students in grades TK-12.

Kimi Ogg, Project Coordinator - Language & Literacy, firmly believes that every child has the right to read and that literacy is a path to social justice. She taught in Santa Rosa City Schools for 18 years as a primary grade teacher and then as a reading specialist. This most recent experience led to the understanding that the best way to impact students is to impact their teachers, and she became dedicated to growing her knowledge in best practices in literacy instruction to better support educators in this work. Kimi also is a member of the adjunct faculty for Sonoma State University, and teaches the Language and Literacy TK-2 course for Multiple Subject Teaching Credential students. She holds a B.A. in Psychology, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and Masters in Education all from Sonoma State University.
Kimi enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, son, and their two Corgis. She loves traveling to places she’s never been, reading, and drinking copious amounts of coffee.

Jacob Ramírez, Project Coordinator - Language & Literacy, serves in pursuit of reconstructing a public- school experience for all children; equitable in practice; dynamic in rigor; and, rich in cultural celebration. An educator of twenty years, Ramírez has taught English and ELD in several settings, among them, California’s public schools and international schools in China, the UAE, and Turkey. In 2021, his pedagogical experience earned him a position as instructional coach for the Cloverdale Unified School District. In his two years on site, he worked to provide staff with resources and training to implement effective ELD strategies while assisting district leadership with its initial implementation of the California English Learner Roadmap.
A first-generation college student, he holds a B.A. in English from California State University, Fullerton. In 2019, he earned an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Lancaster (UK). He is currently in pursuit of his PhD in Creative Writing at Lancaster. At the intersection of his creative writing research and practice, he plans to build writing opportunities for students to heal from trauma, through poetry, while celebrating their unique voices. In his free time, he enjoys traveling the world with his wife and two children.

Lauren Ridgway, Program Coordinator - Literacy, is passionate about creating equitable educational opportunities for all students. Prior to her role at SCOE, Lauren worked as an elementary classroom teacher and as a Teacher on Special Assignment at the site, district, and county levels. As the Program Coordinator for Language & Literacy, she works closely with K-12 teachers and administrators to ensure that every student has the right to read. Lauren holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Sonoma State University and a M.S. in Educational Leadership from Cal State East Bay.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys painting, quilting, and spending time with her two young nieces.

Monica Sevilla, Program Coordinator - Early Learning, believes that every child should feel loved, seen, and heard. This is evident in her dedication to serving our county’s youngest learners, their families, and teachers. Monica is passionate about creating an environment where all children thrive and explore through multimodal learning experiences. Before joining SCOE, Monica worked for twenty years as a TK, kindergarten, and fifth-grade teacher in the Windsor Unified School District (WUSD). She spent thirteen of those years teaching a Newcomers Class, where she prioritized creating welcoming, inclusive environments where students felt safe to share and learn from one another. Throughout her career, she has served as a mentor teacher for the North Coast School of Education, TK lead for WUSD’s iAspire Arts Integration Program, as the TK lead teacher for the iAmplify (internet-based Arts Methods and Professional Learning Integrated for Youth) grant project for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin, and as a National Pyramid Model coach for TK-1st grade teachers in Sonoma County.
Outside of work, Monica enjoys going for walks, attending sporting events, serving in her community, and spending time with her family and friends.
