Angie Duplicki

How many years have you been at SCOE?
I have worked at SCOE for just over eight years.

Job title: Business Systems Support Analyst

How do you describe your job to people outside of SCOE?
I support school districts using software that manages critical operations like payroll, accounts payable, and state financial reporting. Every day brings new questions, challenges, and opportunities to help solve problems — it’s like tackling a different puzzle each day. I love that I’m constantly learning, whether it's a new feature, a unique issue, or a more efficient way to do something. It's rewarding to know that the work I do helps school staff focus more on students and less on system issues.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up all over Northern California — Mendocino, Humboldt, Shasta, and Sonoma counties. Each place has its own amazing beauty. There truly is nothing else like it in the world.

Who was your favorite childhood teacher and why?
Because I moved frequently during my childhood, I didn’t have the chance to build lasting connections with any one teacher. While there were many dedicated educators along the way, the constant change meant I was always starting over. As a result, I often say that life has been my greatest teacher. It’s taught me how to be resilient in the face of change, how to adapt quickly to new environments, and, most importantly, how to be a lifelong learner.

What is your favorite thing about SCOE?
The people are my favorite part of working at SCOE. From the IT team to colleagues across the organization and the staff I support in school districts, I’ve had the chance to work with so many dedicated and thoughtful people. There’s a real sense of teamwork and support that makes the work here enjoyable, even when things get busy.

What is one of your most memorable moments as a SCOE employee?
One of my most memorable experiences at SCOE was helping out at the vaccination clinic during the COVID-19 shutdown. It was a unique time, and it stood out to see so many people from different areas working together to support teachers and school staff. It felt good to contribute to something that helped schools move toward reopening safely.

Outside of work, what is your favorite hobby or way to unwind?
I enjoy spending time in my flower garden, traveling, and learning about new places, cultures, and perspectives. Most recently, I’ve been learning to crochet little lovies for my new grandbaby Charlie, who lives in New Zealand. It’s been a fun and rewarding way to stay connected, even from across the globe.

Do you have a favorite TV show, movie or book that involves a school setting?
The Harry Potter series is probably my favorite when it comes to stories set in a school. I’ve always liked how it mixes everyday school with a magical twist — a few dragons certainly did not hurt.

What is your favorite place in Sonoma County?
It is hard to pick just one favorite, but Jack London State Park is way up there. The history, hiking trails, and views make it my go-to when friends and family are visiting. If it is just my husband and me, any place along our coast will do.

What might people be surprised to learn about you?
I have two children who live on opposite sides of the globe — one in London and the other in Auckland, New Zealand — and I’m right in the middle. Sometimes I joke that we either did something really right or really wrong! Either way, I’m proud of their independence and sense of adventure, even if it makes family visits a bit of a travel puzzle.
