Formative Assessment Insights
by Margaret Heritage

The California Department of Education is offering a Summer on-line course titled Formative Assessment Insights, developed by UCLA's Margaret Heritage and WestEd.  The purpose of the on-line course is to help teachers become skillful users of formative assessment in their classrooms in the context of college and career readiness. The Hewlett Foundation has funded 400 accounts for teams of 6-8 teachers. Interested teams may apply online to participate.  Applications are due by June 26th. A one hour webinar will be provided by the CDE on June 11th, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. to provide additional information about the course and review the application process. Click here to register for the informational webinar.

The CDE has also provided a letter and the course syllabus, which you or your staff may forward to interested staff. The course syllabus provides additional detail about the course modules and design. You can find both of these documents below.
