Summer Workshop: Challenges & Choices, Writing for English Learners in Grades 6-12

In this intensive, three-day institute held June 22-24 at SCOE, participants will engage with current research on second-language writing paired with classroom-tested strategies and approaches for Common Core language arts instruction for English learners. The workshop will focus on the needs of adolescent English learners as they develop both their English language proficiency and their confidence and skill as writers. Each participant will a receive a binder of teaching resources and have the opportunity to join an ongoing inquiry group in the fall. The workshop series is presented through a partnership of the Sonoma County Office of Education and Bay Area Writing Project. More information is available in this Event Flier (pdf).
