EL Parent Leadership Conference - February 2nd -  FREE! 

The Parent Leadership Institute, held in Spanish, is an annual workshop dedicated to empowering parents of English learners.  This year’s Institute will address the theme of “Supporting 21st Century Learning at Home and in School.” In addition to powerful presentations conducted entirely in Spanish, parents will have the opportunity to experience 21st century learning through a hands-on Maker experience. For more information, and to register please click here

Essential Academic Language Practices for English Learners (K-5) - February 16th and March 9th

This series focuses on research-based teaching and assessment practices that meet the needs of EL students and build system-wide capacity for success. This two-day professional development sequence will introduce two high-leverage instructional practices––Fostering Academic Interactions and Fortifying Academic Output––then zoom in on specific instructional strategies that teachers in TK-5 can use. For more information, and to register please click here.

CA's ELA/ELD Framework: A "Sweet" Resource - January 21st, January 28th, February 4th 

At 60 minutes, start to finish, Bite-Size Learning events provide just the right amount of learning to pique your intellectual appetite paired with declicious snacks. Every event is structured around four goals: building professional expertise, sharing practical resources, connecting educators, and identifying opportunities to extend the learning beyond the event itself. These sessions will help educators to 

  • Learn what CA’s ELA/ELD framework is, and how it’s relevant to your work
  • Acquire ready-to-use resources you can use in your class and share with others
  • Connect with other educators, and build a network of support
  • Note upcoming opportunities to learn more about the ELA/ELD framework

SBAC: Making the Instructional Shifts- February 17th 

This workshop will provide K-12 teachers and administrators with strategies for assessing and aligning their own instructional practices with the depth of knowledge and rigor expectations of CCS and SBAC. Teachers and administrators will build a deeper understanding of both the purpose and nature of the SBAC. Teachers and administrators will have the opportunity to explore the implications for their instructional practices in content-specific breakout sessions on Math, English Language Arts and English Language Development. For more information, and to register click here.

Equity at the Core: Creating Equitable Schools for all Learners- Febraury 9th and 10th 

The Equity at the Core Conference is designed to provide educators and community leaders in Sonoma County and throughout the region with information and resources needed to generate the conversation about equity in our schools. The conference content will focus on best practices that could be implemented to create equitable school environments for all learners to eliminate gaps in achievement and access for students from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
