Teacher of the Month: Noelle Huberty

12/09/2021 -

Noelle Huberty, a first-grade teacher at Forestville Elementary School in Forestville Union School District, has been named Sonoma County Teacher of the Month for October 2021.

The monthly award honors one of Sonoma County's most outstanding teachers from October through May. It is sponsored by the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), K-HITS 107.9, HOT 101.7, and Community First Credit Union (CFCU).

“So many teachers have stepped up in incredible ways to support students and families during these unprecedented times,” said Steven D. Herrington, Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools. “The Teacher of the Month program this year seeks to honor, support, and thank those teachers who have given so much of themselves and sacrificed so much to support students during the pandemic."

Mrs. Huberty received a heartfelt nomination from an appreciative parent. She was described as a wonderful and dedicated teacher who has gone above and beyond during the pandemic.

"Mrs. Huberty is the most amazing teacher I have dealt with in many years. She works extremely hard to make sure that her first graders have a love of learning. Her Unbirthday Tea party was canceled in May of 2020, so she decided that she would go to each kid in her class and deliver a small package to remind kids how important it is to celebrate life. Masked and gloved she dropped off small gifts to 27 kids! You cannot imagine what a huge impression she made in my daughter's life” read the nomination.

Mrs. Huberty was surprised with the honor by representatives from SCOE and KHITS 107.9/HOT 101.7 on Monday, Dec. 6, during her class instruction. She and her students were stunned by the unexpected celebratory interruption. Mrs. Huberty accepted the recognition with humility and joy. She let her students know her award would go to good use in the classroom. Mrs. Huberty was given a special plaque and a $500 gift card for teacher resources and supplies as part of the recognition.
