UTK Leadership Series: Preparing TK Leaders with Equity-Centered Instruction

UTK Professional learning Program is designed to support teacher, site, and district leaders in building capacity for equity-centered instructional leadership in UTK. This series of modules is hosted by the 21 CSLA Regional Academy. 

These modules can be attended as a single session or altogether as a series. We encourage districts to bring their teams to participate and collaborate with UTK experts across our GEO-Region.

ENVISIONING EQUITABLE TK CLASSROOMS IN ACTION - Module 2 (Dates Jan 30, Jan 31, Feb 8, Feb 9 Times: 1-3pm VIRTUAL)          

GUIDING QUESTION: What should leaders see in inclusive, high-quality,and culturally and linguistically relevant TK classrooms?

LEARNING OUTCOME: Leaders can identify specific “look-fors” in TK classrooms to develop their instructional leadership for implementing California’s UTK.

SUPPORTING, INTEGRATING, AND ALIGNING EQUITABLE TK CLASSROOMS  - Module 3 (Dates March 27,March 28, April 2, April 4 Times: 9:30-11:30AM VIRTUAL)

GUIDING QUESTION: How can principals and district leaders effectively support, integrate, andalign high-quality, equitable TK programs within school sites and systems?

LEARNING OUTCOME: Leaders develop the knowledge and understanding to support their role in leading for high-quality, developmentally appropriate, and equitable UTK programs.

EQUITABLE TK CLASSROOMS THROUGH INCLUSIVE PRACTICES - Module 6 (Date February 29th Time 8:30 am-3:00 pm IN PERSON)               

GUIDING QUESTION: How can equity-centered leaders support integration of the principles and practices of Universal Design for Learning strategies to increase access and inclusion for all students?

LEARNING OUTCOME: Leaders can identify principles and practices of the Universal Design for Learning strategies in order to increase access and inclusion for all students.

 FAMILY ENGAGEMENT FOR HIGH-QUALITY TK EXPERIENCES - Module 7 (Date April 25th, 8:30-3:00 pm IN PERSON)

GUIDING QUESTION How can leaders create welcoming, inclusive environments that foster family engagement focused on student success?

LEARNING OUTCOME Leaders can identify the various considerations to ensure family engagement is culturally affirming and responsive and leads to partnerships focused on student success.

INQUIRY THROUGH PLAY Module 8 (Date May 2nd Time 8:30-3:00 pm IN PERSON)

GUIDING QUESTION What does purposeful, play-based, inquiry-driven instruction look like in a TK classroom?

LEARNING OUTCOME Leaders deepen their understanding of high-quality TK classrooms by observing and experiencing play-based and inquiry-oriented TK instruction.
