Welcome BackSCOE held its 2020-21 Back-to-School event (virtually) on Tuesday, Aug. 11 The event featured an inspiring talk by Ada Medina-Tellez, a SCOE Special Education teacher.

And, as is our tradition, we began the school year by recognizing exemplary employees and colleagues. That included Golden Bell and District Service award winners as well as those who have reached landmark years of service. Here is the list of employees recognized this year. Irma Contreras

Irma was honored for dedication, her work ethic, and her ability to work well with students and families to support their education.

Myra was honored for her calm, professional demeanor and her excellent ability to establish rapport with students and staff alike.


Lael TensfeldtCertificated

Lael Tensfeldt, Special Education Teacher

Teacher Lael Tensfeldt was recognized for the patience, love, and consistent structure she provides to her students. She also works well and closely with the other members of the students' teams to ensure that they receive the best services and supports possible.

Judy Waller, Speech/Language Therapist
Judy Waller was recognized for her tremendous dedication to students, including acknowledging each child's individual needs and building programs to support them. She has also been a dedicated volunteer for the special olympics and a great team player.


Management

Matt O'donnell award Matt O'Donnell - Technology Innovation Specialist

Matt was recognized for his vision and leadership to support students around distance learning. He anticipated the need for distance learning before COVID-19 arrived in Sonoma County and helped schools be prepared through multiple trainings. He continues to provide support and leadership heading into the new school year.

Kim Vallee Award Kimberly Vallée- Administrative Operations Specialist

Kimberly was recognized for her continual professionalism, leadership, kindness and commitment to service, in addition to the critical role she has played in helping the SCOE administrative team to respond to multiple natural disasters and COVID-19.







Candy AmosDistrict Service Award

Candy Amos

Candy Amos, Information Systems Support Coordinator, received the District Service Award for her work ethic, her kindness, her helpfulness, and her calm demeanor when supporting districts. During shelter in place, she held meetings to support district staff in operating information systems remotely.
