Job Title: Assistive Technology Specialist Teacher

How do you describe your job to people outside SCOE? I work with assistive technology to help students, educators, and families access their academics, curriculum, environment, and to develop communication and literacy.

Where did you grow up? Northern California, Sebastopol and Forestville!

Who was your favorite childhood teacher and why? Mr. Radford, he was my 5th grade band teacher who let me try out many instruments before letting me play the drums.

What is your favorite thing about SCOE? My favorite thing about SCOE is the collaborative and friendly environment, there are many excellent folks that make it work!

What is one of your most memorable moments as a SCOE employee? One of my favorite moments at SCOE last year was when I was able to help a student set up their iPad in a way where they became inspired to use it to communicate and write more.

Outside of work, what is your favorite hobby or way to unwind? I really enjoy playing drums and music with my band, traveling, and trail riding my mountain bike.

What is your favorite place in Sonoma County? My favorite place in Sonoma County is Cafe Aquatica on the river mouth in Jenner.

What might people be surprised to learn about you? They might be surprised that I have a BFA in Instrumental Jazz/Drums performance and have been on Japanese television.
