Job Title:
Legal Receptionist, School & College Legal Services

How do you describe your job to people outside SCOE?
I tell them that I work in a legal department where we represent many different school districts. I let them know I do all kinds of administrative work and that I like it.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Santa Rosa. I moved out of the area for about 10 years and I am glad to be back in Sonoma County.

Who was your favorite childhood teacher and why?
My 10th grade English teacher, Mr. Kettenberg, was a favorite. He challenged us all, but we had fun. Writing papers in that class was great preparation for being a literature major in college.

What is your favorite thing about SCOE?
My co-workers are the best! Everyone has been helpful and nice from the moment I came onboard.

What is one of your most memorable moments as a SCOE employee?
I think the most memorable moment will be when we move back to our renovated office.

Outside of work, what is your favorite hobby or way to unwind?
I love to hike, although I haven’t been doing it as much as I would like to lately. My family and I lived in Eureka when the pandemic hit and we hiked a lot during that crazy time. It was amazing to get to explore the redwoods. And I love to read. You will find me on my lunch break with a book in my hand.

Do you have a favorite TV show, movie or book that involves a school setting?
I recently rewatched the TV show “My So-Called Life,” which is about the trials and tribulations of high schoolers and came out in the ‘90s. It was a favorite back when it came out and it was fun to see it again.

What is your favorite place in Sonoma County?
Any of the many beaches here.

What might people be surprised to learn about you?
I have lived in four states - New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New Jersey and California.
