Video: Helping all Students Succeed through Universal Design for Learning
08/17/2018 -
The Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) spent the 2017-18 year collaborating with school districts such as Bennett Valley on an approach to student learning that emphasizes flexibility in order to meet the individual learning needs of students of varied learning abilities. This approach, called Universal Design for Learning (UDL), is based on scientific insights into how humans learn. Teachers design lesson plans, curriculum, and even learning spaces in a way that provides students autonomy and flexibility—so that students can approach a given lesson in a way that works best for their individual learning style. Learn more about how students—and teachers—can benefit from this approach in a video featuring Bennett Valley Union School District.
