02/10/2020 -

Kelly CramerKelly Cramer, an English and student government teacher at Roseland University Prep, has been named Sonoma County Teacher of the Month for February 2020.

The monthly award honors one of Sonoma County's most outstanding teachers from October through May. It is sponsored by the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), K-HITS 104.9, and Community First Credit Union (CFCU), with additional support from Platinum Chevrolet and Bernstein Orthodontics.

“We need high-quality, caring teachers now more than ever to help our students thrive in a complex and ever-changing world,” said Steven D. Herrington, Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools. “The Teacher of the Month program this year seeks to honor, support, and thank those teachers."

Numerous heartfelt nominations from students, parents, and colleagues alike poured in for Ms. Cramer this winter. Students described Ms. Cramer as an energetic, dedicated teacher who contributes to the success of her students as well as the school community.

One student’s nomination read, “She always goes above and beyond to help students out and basically is the glue to our whole school. She is that ray of sunshine on a rainy day and the type of person to give you a smile when no one else does.”

Students credited her for organizing numerous school dances, rallies, and fundraisers. "She is an amazing teacher that is completely dedicated to her job. Our school wouldn’t be as spirited and successful without her," wrote another student.

Representatives from SCOE, Roseland School District, KHITS, and Bernstein Orthodontics were there to honor Ms. Cramer with her award in a surprise presentation in front of her students. She was also given $650 worth of gift cards for classroom supplies, courtesy of Bernstein Orthodontics, Platinum Chevrolet, and Redwood Credit Union.
