Posters recognize Sonoma County teachers

Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) has launched a countywide campaign to build community awareness of Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7, and to showcase some of the exemplary teachers working in local public schools during these challenging times. The campaign is sponsored by a number of community partners, including Community First Credit Union, Exchange Bank, Redwood Empire School Insurance Group, Redwood Credit Union, Santa Rosa Junior College, and School & College Legal Services.
A series of posters celebrating teachers' caring and connection with students will run on the back of Sonoma County Transit buses during the months of April and May. The posters include photographs of elementary school educators chosen to represent their colleagues through nominations received through the Sonoma County Teacher of the Month program.
County Superintendent of Schools Steve Herrington noted, “Schools and school employees have risen to the challenge of numerous natural disasters and a pandemic. It’s important for all of us to let them know that they are appreciated and valued. Teachers are an essential part of our children’s lives and they have been working hard to maintain caring and connection despite the challenges of distance learning.”
