“So many teachers have stepped up in incredible ways to support students and families during these unprecedented times,” said Steven D. Herrington, Sonoma County Superintendent of Schools. “The Teacher of the Month program this year seeks to honor, support, and thank those teachers who have given so much of themselves and sacrificed so much to support students during the pandemic."

More than 30 students, parents, and colleagues nominated Mr. Robbins for the award.. He was described as a dedicated, energetic, and witty teacher who cares deeply about each of his students.

"Mr. Robbins truly deserves this award. My 7th grader regularly comes home effusing compliments for how great he does his job — from scrapping math lessons to provide one-on-one assistance, to tying the class’ love of anime into lessons,” read one nomination.

Mr. Robbins was surprised with the honor by representatives from SCOE and K-Hits 107.9/HOT 101.7 on Monday, March 28, during the school’s outdoor morning circle. He and all of the students at Village Charter School were overjoyed by the unexpected honor. Mr. Robbins accepted the recognition with surprise and humility. He let the representatives know how much he loves teaching at Village Charter School. Mr. Robbins was given a special plaque and a $500 gift card for teacher resources and supplies as part of the recognition.
