Assessment of English Language Learners: An Overview
This training is intended to provide participants with a guided look at the Diagnostic Center-Northern California’s best practice guidelines for the assessment of culturally and linguistically diverse students. The framework was developed to address the disproportionate number of English Language Learners being over- and under-identified for speech-language services.
- Become familiar with guidelines for designing and conducting an unbiased and best practices language and communication assessment.
- Review guidelines for the language and communication assessment of culturally and linguistically diverse students developed by participants of the Dual Language Project.
- Receive copies of the forms used at the center to help guide them in future assessment.
- Become familiar with resources for additional support and information.
Please note that Registration starts at 8:00 AM and lunch will be provided.

Check (paid by you or your district/school via a purchase order process): After you register you will receive a confirmation / invoice. If you are paying for the event yourself, print your confirmation / invoice, attach your check, and mail as indicated. If your district or school is paying for the event, please forward your confirmation / invoice to the appropriate person so that a check can be processed via your district/school's purchase order (PO) process. SCOE does not require a copy of the PO, as an invoice is sent at the time of event registration.
Credit card (PayPal): You must enter credit card information at the time of registration. If you are being reimbursed for this event, follow your district/school guidelines for reimbursement.
