Developing Language and Literacy in Young Learners
This teaching symposium is for all educators, specialists, and administrators serving TK and Kindergarten students.
Participants will learn research-based strategies to support the language and literacy development of young learners in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This series will provide teachers with strategies, lessons and resources to support students with concepts of print, phonological awareness, letter recognition and beginning writing skills.
Morning refreshment and lunch will be provided each day. Participants will also have the opportunity to make materials for use in their classrooms.

Recommended books are the Preschool Learning Foundations Vol. 1, Preschool Curriculum Frameworks Vol. 1 (CDE Press) and Developmentally Appropriate Practice by Copple and Bredekamp.
One continuing education unit (CEU) from Humboldt State University will be available upon request for $50. Participants must attend both days of the class in order to be eligible for the CEU.
