Cut Paper: A Pathway to Creative Writing

This workshop was developed in association with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and is partially underwritten by the Department of Education and the National Committee for the Performing Arts.

The process of taking an idea and developing it into a story can be challenging for young authors. In this workshop, teachers explore how students can use construction paper, scissors, and glue to create artwork that becomes the bridge between an idea and a unique, descriptive story. Participants learn to use elements of art such as shape, size, space, and color to connect to story components of character, setting, events, and details.
