Managing Serious Behavior (MSB)
Managing Student Behavior (MSB) is a program developed by the Sonoma County SELPA and district behavior specialists to address the issues of positive behavioral intervention and emergency techniques. This is a two-part training that results in certification by the Sonoma County SELPA. Once training is completed, certification is good for two years and satisfies the initial or re-certification requirement.
Participants MUST attend the entirety of both days (8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) in order to receive certification.
Part 1 of the training
Part 1 is geared toward preventative strategies and interventions to avoid aggressive student behavior. It also covers the escalation cycle. The Part 1 workshop will be held on November 6th, 2018, 8:30am-3:00pm, at SCOE. The workshop is open to all teachers, administrators, and assistants.
Part 2 of the training
Part 2 is contingent upon successful completion of Part 1. This portion of the training covers crisis communication, escape and evade, and SELPA-approved emergency techniques. Part 2 workshop will be take place on November 7th, 8:30am-3:00pm, and is open to those participants who have successfully completed Part 1. Please remember to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Check (paid by you or your district/school via a purchase order process): After you register you will receive a confirmation / invoice. If you are paying for the event yourself, print your confirmation / invoice, attach your check, and mail as indicated. If your district or school is paying for the event, please forward your confirmation / invoice to the appropriate person so that a check can be processed via your district/school's purchase order (PO) process. SCOE does not require a copy of the PO, as an invoice is sent at the time of event registration.
Credit card (PayPal): You must enter credit card information at the time of registration. If you are being reimbursed for this event, follow your district/school guidelines for reimbursement.
