Best Practices in Budgeting
Learn more about how to best align your district’s budgeted resources with key objectives and goals for student learning. This session will be a continuation of the overview the Government Finance Officer Association (GFOA) led this past spring and will build upon their recommendations for budgeting and planning process improvements from the Best Practices in School Budgeting and Smarter School Spending.
An additional focus for this session will include examining your district’s strategic plan and opportunities for improvement; cost-effectiveness measurements, primarily academic return on investment (AROI); and also how to better engagement and inform stakeholders throughout the budget process. The session will include examples from other districts who have utilized the GFOA framework and also practical tips and tools for districts to utilize with ample time for discussion and hands-on work.
